Why Moisturizing Matters

June 29, 2017

You wouldn't go a day without drinking water right? Well, you shouldn't go a day without hydrating the skin. Hydration is what allows skin to function at peak performance. I have normal to oily skin but I still find time to moisturize. I find if I don't my skin gets dry and patchy which looks crazy when applying makeup. Also, moisturizing the skin daily can not only help to keep your skin looking radiant but hydrates the skin that will be visible years in the future. Here are some important reasons why you should keep a moisturizer handy.

Benefits of moisturizer

  • A suitable moisturizer can help prevent and treat dry skin.

  • It can protect sensitive skin, improve skin tone and texture, and mask imperfections.

  • As moisturizers hold water in the outermost layer of skin, they also act as a temporary barrier for your skin.

  • It also protects the outer layer of the skin from harmful effects of sun, wind and other environmental factors.

So what does a moisturizer do for your skin?

  • Repair- They are so many factors that will take the moisture out of your skin. Pollution, poor diets, cold weather, dry furnaces and stressful lifestyles can all dehydrate the skin, that is why we need to give our skin some added help. While these elements are draining moisture away, the only method to hydrate and provide a bit of nourishment back in is by applying a moisturizer every day.

  • Protect- Moisturizers also help to protect your skin from sun damage. Moisturizers with SPF/sunscreen are available which can help protect your skin from the harsh damaging UV rays. This is something you should use all year long not just during the summer season; during the winters month’s the sun’s rays can be just as damaging.

  • Circulate- Applying moisturizer stimulates the skin improving the circulation of blood to the body helping to boost collagen levels. The depletion of collagen increases the amount of wrinkles, fine lines, and sagging skin on the body.

Treat your skin right and you'll see positive changes!
